A message from Diocesan Safeguarding -
We are hoping to reach those who are supporting a family member or friend who is a survivor of church-based abuse and let them know about our intention to set up a peer support group. We feel that there is a real gap in provision of support for those who love and care for survivors, and we are hoping that some of them might be interested in joining us.
The group will be co-facilitated by Carol Butler (DSA for Newcastle Diocese) and Maggi Creese, who supports a survivor of church-based abuse. We are planning to hold two initial meetings where we can come together and discuss how such a group might be run. These will take place on 5 March 2022 at 10am at Newcastle Cathedral and on 8 March 2022 at 5.30pm on Zoom. The flyer includes information about how to register an interest in joining us for one of these conversations.
